  • Deliver more impactful, relevant, and timely insight out to colleagues and partners
  • Increase the velocity and effectiveness of our VIP activity and customer experience
  • Leverage advanced analytics to optimise our supply chain, customer spend, workload, colleague rotas, pricing and profitability

About the role

As Data Governance Manager, you will be responsible for improving the quality and managing the protection of sensitive data and information assets.

The role will focus on establishing and ensuring adherence to an enterprise data governance framework to achieve the required level of consistency, quality and protection to meet the overall business needs across the Enterprise.

This role represents a unique and fantastic opportunity to bring your expertise to a high performing and well-regarded function, and to take that function to the next level, leveraging achievements to date and providing even greater value to the organisation. You will be joining a cloud native function that has engineered bespoke solutions in the latest technology, from scratch.

Key responsibilities will include;

  • Establishing and governing an enterprise data governance implementation roadmap, including strategic priorities for development of information-based capabilities
  • Rolling out an enterprise – wide data governance framework, with a focus on improvement of data quality through modifications to organisation behaviour policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools and data architecture
  • Definining roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensuring clear accountability for stewardship of the Pets at Home principal information assets
  • Ensuring framework and processes are scalable and sustainable
  • Embedding the data is a “valuable asset and must be protected “ culture
  • Ensuring sustainability of Data governance initiative
  • Working closely with Business and Functional area leadership to improve the quality and value of core data assets
  • Responding to regulatory protection requirements as well as supporting the strategic requirements of Programme, Departmental and the Enterprise from a data governance and data management perspective
  • Serving as a point of escalation for governance, data quality and liaison / coordination with the Data Protection Office for protection issues

About your experience

As a data governance professional, you will possess knowledge of industry leading data quality and data protection management practices. You will be able to draw upon your ability to manage senior relationships across all business and functional areas to develop cooperative and constructive working relationships.

You’ll hold membership to the Data Management Association (DAMA) and be up to speed with data related government regulatory requirements as well as emerging trends and issues.

Further key experience/attributes include;

  • Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets
  • Knowledge of data architecture and technology solutions
  • Fundamentals of Data Management (Applicable Training)
  • Being a collaborative team player with an orientation towards work relationships and a strong culture awareness
  • Highly developed skills in priority setting and alignment of priorities with Programme, Departmental and Enterprise strategy
  • Ability to articulate vision of transformation efforts and a sense of mission
  • Willingness to take change and provide direction
