Description:

A typical day for the Director, PR and Communications will include:

Promoting PayPal’s reputation in a selection of countries in Asia Pacific and EMEA

Working closely and collaboratively with the leadership teams and other internal teams to develop communications programs that support our business objectives and enhance our reputation

Leading the Communications teams in those countries

Managing reputational issues, in partnership with APAC, EMEA and Global reputation risk leaders

  • The Communications team is regarded internally and externally as a high performing and effective team that tells PayPal’s story very effectively.
  • You have developed impactful PR strategies and programs that increase understanding and awareness of PayPal and the unique benefits it gives its customers.
  • You have established strong working relationships with PayPal’s regional leaders, who trust and respond to your expert advice on communications issues.
  • You have deployed our Communications resources (budget and internal team and agency time) to maximum impact according to our business priorities and goals.
  • You and the team have developed a strong bench of spokespeople across the main markets, who media see as key people to interview about digital payments and commerce, and the future of money.
  • You have helped ensure that we respond quickly and effectively to crises and other reputational issues, minimising the impact on PayPal’s reputation.


About You

  • High level of professionalism and judgement; ability to handle sensitive/confidential information with appropriate care.
  • You are fluent in verbal and written English, as well as another Asian/European language if possible
  • You are an excellent communicator who can explain complex subjects in compelling language.
  • You can build and maintain relationships with people at all levels and across organisational and geographic boundaries.
  • You are detail-oriented, highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment while also working independently with minimal supervision.
  • You have the ability and confidence to push back against inappropriate or unrealistic proposals or requests.
  • You have a Bachelors’ Degree and at least 15 years of relevant experience.


You Might Also Have 

  • Experience of managing teams of people based in different locations.
  • Experience in PR for an online business (in-house or as a consultant), ideally in payments and ecommerce.
