An OB Home & Gift Packaging Specialist will:

  • Be responsible for all new packaging development and material specification
  • Continuously maintain and improve our packaging standards / guidelines
  • Be involved in the product development procedures and be aware of cost management for developing the proposed packaging
  • Oversee supplier compliance against packaging standards
  • Be the driving force for sustainable packaging materials and innovation at OB
  • Ensure update to knowledge of recyclability labelling and their requirements
  • Manage the drop testing requirements and supplier compliance
  • Identify and act on any opportunities for packaging optimisation and rationalisation
  • Be the point of contact for supplier based, packaging related enquiries
  • Keep an up to date knowledge of current and future packaging waste legislation & plastics taxation
  • Ensure a knowledge of packaging related certification requirements and processes
  • Advise on packaging recyclability and customer communication
  • Phase out of all non-recyclable packaging materials
  • Understanding of the shopping experience and appearance of the packaging
  • Maintain regular communication with relevant departments including PR
  • Work closely with the Product Technology team and support in the development of their packaging knowledge

What we look for:

  • Extensive experience in a packaging development role, preferably in Non-Food retail
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Update knowledge of UK packaging legislation
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Knowledge of packaging materials and manufacturing processes
  • A team player
  • Previous experience communicating with overseas factories preferred
  • An enthusiasm to learn with a can do approach
