An exciting new opportunity has opened up for a Media Manager to join our team at World Vision Australia. This is a permanent full-time opportunity based at our Burwood East VIC office or Sydney office NSW.

As the Media Manager you are responsible for raising the profile of the World Vision Australia (WVA) brand through earned media and communications activities. You are a trusted advisor, a subject matter expert and an experienced writer, the Media Manager is a ‘thinker-doer’ role, with the primary responsibility to be ‘hands on and together with a small team of communications professionals, generate earned media on the big issues, and emergencies World Vision is tackling around the world.

Reporting to the Head of Media and Corporate Communications, you will be responsible for;

  • Manage any crisis and/or Brand Reputational risk.
  • Promote WVA as a leading voice and authentic commentator, and offer expertise, coaching and mentorship to those you lead.
  • Work collaboratively and cross-functionally to ensure that the organization and its goals are promoted accurately and consistently in the media
  • Strategic scheduling of team members’ activity to ensure maximum leverage of the daily news cycle including emergencies and global issues.
  • Identify, design and influence external communication opportunities that help to promote World Vision Australia’s key programmatic focus areas.
  • Act as the central point of all earned media-facing content, whether produced internally or externally.

Your skills and experience will include:

  • You will be a natural leader and an incredible storyteller who is equally as passionate about changing lives and tackling the big issues together with a talented team of media and communications experts.
  • High level of interpersonal skills with the ability to produce clear and accurate communications that are appropriate for their intended audience
  • Ability to work positively and effectively as part of a collaborative work team
  • Senior-level experience in a media communications role within a medium to large organization, with a focus on brand.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Journalism or related discipline.
