Applications are invited for an Operations Officer to join the Mahidol-Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU) based in Bangkok, Thailand. This is a key role working with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) to ensure the strategic aims of MORU are met, through the ability to provide high-level operational support across the Tropical Health Network.
You will be responsible for providing support to Oxford contracted staff, grants and Finance, establishing a strong link between departments and systems located in Oxford, Bangkok and other MORU units. You will play a key role in overseeing MORU financial processes, taking responsibility for budget management and forecasting, and administering new research grant applications. You will establish a good understanding of the essential University Human Resources practices and procedures, and manage many elements of the employee life cycle.
It is essential that you hold a degree, and have a proven ability in administrative and business management within an academic or commercial environment. You will have experience of budget management, with intermediate skills in the use of financial spreadsheets, and databased. You will have an understanding and knowledge of HR management, including recruitment and selection, retention, performance management and staff development. Strong verbal communications skill and proven ability for report writing is essential for the role, as well as be able to establish effective working relationships with individuals at all levels of management.
