Job Summary and Mission

This position contributes to Starbucks success by leading the initiatives, programs and developing strategies to ensure stakeholders engage in sustainability priorities for the Asia Pacific Region. Establish collaborative partnership with cross-functional teams and develop the implementation of sustainability projects. Provides technical solutions to address sustainability issues and develop effective mechanism in measuring performance towards company goals. Engage with markets and partners in raising their awareness and encouraging sustainability into their daily business. Supports Starbucks commitment to leadership in sustainability and integration in achieving its multi-decade aspiration to be a resource positive company.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Leadership – Developing and implementing sustainability strategies, and model how we work together:

⦁ Leads sustainability projects to identify opportunity of the whole ecosystem in Starbucks value chain across functions interdependently, in expecting sustainable practices to be applied in markets.

⦁ Develops mechanism in facilitating markets on the footprint reporting process, provides training and measures performance towards the sustainability goals in carbon, water, and waste reduction.

⦁ Develops forums in raising partners awareness, building a foundational understanding on various sustainability topics, and facilitating best practice sharing among cross functions and markets.

⦁ Develops regular report, crafts partner communication, and builds storytelling for the success of sustainability to internal stakeholders.

⦁ Leverages global program and strategizes cross-functional sustainability initiatives in the region.

⦁ Develops actionable plans to ensure compliance with environmental and governmental regulations.

Planning and Execution – Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results:

⦁ Supports in developing annual operating plan, budget and regular reports etc.

⦁ Provides strategies, sets technical direction and maintains effective process implementation of sustainability initiatives.

⦁ Delivers and oversees implementation of trainings to effectively build market capacity and strengthens internal stakeholder’s knowledge to sustainability.

⦁ Leads sustainability objectives by ensuring potential environmental issues impacting to the company are accurately identified, addressed and resolved within designated time frame.

⦁ Contributes, communicates and educates partners, markets and cross-functional leads on changes in policies and practices of sustainability.

Business Requirements – Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities:

⦁ Leads sustainability initiatives, communications and structural support that will enable Starbucks Asia Pacific performance in sustainability.

⦁ Provides subject matter expertise and communicates the potential impact of emerging sustainability implications of business issues.

⦁ Keeps abreast with industry wide issues and best practices on environmental sustainability in Asia Pacific region, constantly enhances and builds most appropriate proactive initiatives to affect positive change.

⦁ Establishes external relationships and develops channels for dialogue with key sustainability stakeholders, influencers and 3rd party professional service providers etc.

⦁ Manages strategic relationships on behalf of the company with the appropriate non-governmental organizations, business associations and public agencies.

Summary of Experience

⦁ Driving sustainability program/projects – 7 years

⦁ Top-tier corporate working experience within the region with a preference for large footprint retailers, food & beverage or QSR companies – 5 years

⦁ Leading and developing programs to address sustainability issues across internal and external stakeholder groups – 5 years

⦁ Leading and facilitating cross-functional groups – 5 years

⦁ Developing and managing carbon, water and/or waste footprint data – 5 years

⦁ Managing the activities of external consultants – 5 years

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

⦁ Bachelor’s or master’s degree related to environmental science, sustainability or another relevant field or equivalent working experience

⦁ Excellent influence skills to assist groups in achieving consensus and buy-in

⦁ Excellent organizational and project management skills

⦁ Strong ability to apply sound business principles and practices to project management and change management processes

⦁ Strong ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities

⦁ Fluency in English; ability to communicate clearly, persuasively, and concisely, both orally and in writing

⦁ Ability to analyze issues and best practices, anticipate future trends and implement effective stakeholder engagement strategies

⦁ Ability to work successfully with people of diverse functional and cultural backgrounds.

⦁ Ability to create and manage a network of relationships with internal and external stakeholders
